Bruno Ciuffetelli’s practice focuses on advising major companies on Venezuelan antitrust enforcement, as well as representing foreign multinationals in their entrance into the Latin American market.
Prior to joining Hogan & Hartson, Bruno was the partner in charge of the corporate and antitrust practices of a Venezuelan law firm. While there, he represented major companies in investigations before the Venezuelan Antitrust Agency, analyzed the need for notifying mergers in Venezuela, and advised clients on general antitrust matters. Bruno was involved in the first major price-fixing investigation in Venezuela and also participated in the first major antitrust investigation in the telecommunications industry.
Bruno also has extensive international corporate experience with companies from a wide range of industries. He advised a leading gas company in the expansion of its operations in Venezuela and Colombia. He advised international banks and financial institutions on privatizations and acquisitions of local banks in Venezuela. He represented French companies in the leasing of aircrafts in Venezuela, as well as in the acquisition of the majority shareholdings in the largest chain of retail supermarkets in Venezuela.
His practice also focuses on advising companies in Venezuela and Latin America in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industry. He represents clients in these industries in a variety of matters, including the structuring of international joint ventures, construction contracts, license and technology transfer, and project finance.
Additionally, he advised Internet and telecommunications companies in the acquisition of Internet service providers and in obtaining telecom licenses, respectively.
He has been ranked by Global Competition Review PLC and LatinLawyer 2005 as one of the world’s top competition lawyers.
