EVALUATION PROCESS

In addition to informal feedback provided to associates on individual assignments, there are two formal associate evaluation mechanisms. The Associate Evaluation Committee conducts a review once a year of every associate's performance through the associate's fourth year. The Associate Review Committee conducts an annual review for each associate above the fourth year that covers both the associate's performance and progress toward advancement to partnership or counsel status. In addition, for associates who are new to the firm, an informal performance review is usually conducted after the first several months.

Generally, associates are first eligible to be considered for elevation to counsel or partner eight years after graduation from law school.

Take a Closer Look

I get informal feedback from the partners I work with, but I have found the firm’s formal annual evaluation process to be a useful, informative, and reassuring recognition of my strengths and a good reminder of the areas on which I should work.
