Program Agenda

The morning program will be chaired by David Leitch, Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Ford Motor Company, with a key note address from The Honorable J. Thomas Rosch, Federal Trade Commission. The afternoon program will be chaired by Stephen Juge, Deputy General Counsel, Gemalto. The program combines presentations, panel discussions and practical concurrent workshops.

About the Speakers

David Leitch
David G. Leitch is General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Ford Motor Company. Prior to his position at Ford, Mr. Leitch served as the Deputy Counsel and Deputy Assistant to the President. From June 2001 through December 2002, he served as Chief Counsel for the Federal Aviation Administration, overseeing a staff of 290 in Washington and the agency's 11 regional offices. He is also a past Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Legal Counsel.

Leitch's law career includes serving as law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, and as a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm of Hogan & Hartson, LLP. Leitch is a graduate of the University of Virginia, School of Law, and Duke University.

J. Thomas Rosch
J. Thomas Rosch was sworn in as a Commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission January 5, 2006, to a term that expires in September 2012.

Rosch joined the FTC from the San Francisco office of Latham & Watkins, where he was the former managing partner and most recently a partner, working in the firm’s antitrust and trade practices group. Rosch served as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Section in 1990, and he has chaired the California Bar Association’s Antitrust Section. He served as Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection from 1973 to 1975, and in 1989 was a member of the ABA's Special Committee to Study the Role of the FTC.

Nationally regarded for his antitrust and trade regulation law expertise, he has been lead counsel in more than 100 federal and state court antitrust cases and has more than 40 years experience before the Bar. In 2003, Rosch was honored as Antitrust Lawyer of the Year by the California State Bar Antitrust Section. He obtained his LLB from Harvard University in 1965 and was a Knox Fellow at Cambridge in 1962.

Stephen Juge
Stephen Juge has been Deputy General Counsel and Deputy Company Secretary of Gemalto N.V. (business combination of Gemplus International S.A. and Axalto Holding N.V., former smart card division of Schlumberger) since its creation in June 2006. Mr. Juge joined Gemplus in November 2000 at Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Prior to joining Gemplus, Mr. Juge served from January to October 2000 as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Walt Disney Europe. From April 1996 to January 2000, Mr. Juge served as Senior Vice President and European Legal Counsel of The Walt Disney Company (Europe) S.A. From November 1987 to March 1996, Mr. Juge served as Vice President and General Counsel of the Disneyland Resort Paris (Euro Disney S.C.A.). Prior to joining Disneyland Resort Paris, Mr. Juge was an associate at the international law firm of Coudert Freres in Paris between 1981 and 1987.

Mr. Juge attended Louisiana State University, received a Juris Doctor degree from the Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans and studied comparative law at the University of Oxford on a Marshall Foundation Fellowship.
