David J. Hensler
Partner, Washington, D.C.

David Hensler's practice involves complex commercial litigation. Since joining Hogan & Hartson in 1968, he has handled jury and non-jury trials for both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of cases. His present practice involves securities fraud litigation, internal investigations, insurance coverage disputes, aviation and noise impact litigation, and many other types of general commercial litigation.

David was an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center for eight years where he taught a course on the use of economic analysis in litigation. He is also the co-author of several articles on asset valuation in the context of corporate takeovers and divestitures. Following graduation from law school, he joined the General Counsel's Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission where he handled securities fraud litigation.

David is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) and was Chair of the ACTL's State Committee for the District of Columbia (2004-2006). David was described as "the city's commercial litigator par excellence" in a Legal Times article titled "Identifying 20 Leading Litigators." David is described as "a 24-carat commercial litigator" and is ranked No. 1 for General Commercial Litigation in Washington, D.C. in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business Litigation (2005). David is also listed as a leading Commercial Litigator in The Best Lawyers in America and Chambers Global—The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

Representative Experience
Obtained the largest jury verdict ($38 million) ever paid on a wrongful discharge claim.
