Hogan & Hartson represents hospitals across a wide spectrum of regulatory, transaction, and litigation matters. Our practice is national and international in scope, and has a particular focus on matters that require highly specific experience, often involving the application of multiple federal or state laws or regulations.
A distinguishing feature of our practice is the breadth and depth of the experience of our lawyers, many of whom have held senior government and other health care leadership positions. Another hallmark is our use of interdisciplinary teams of lawyers to meet the specific needs of hospital clients. Such a team might involve a health care regulatory lawyer with deep hospital industry experience, as well as a lawyer with specific experience related to the client's need. Our experience ranges from a False Claims Act case alleging improper Medicare billing, the need to structure physician or payor relationships to comply with antitrust and Stark law issues, tax and corporate governance practices, labor and immigration law concerns, medical education, clinical trials, or the restructuring of an entire health system. Experience and understanding of the hospital industry is invaluable in representing hospitals in litigation and transactions, as well as regulatory compliance matters.
